Pairing Reason
This is a unique pair. They both have great form and personality. They both have dragon scale characteristics. I’m interested to see if they can balance each other out. The main reason I paired these two is because they are both curious, friendly, and energetic. Neither of them are ever in a bad mood.
Neptune is a Candy Galaxy Plakat, purchased from PNW Bettas in March of 2024. See the Meet L&F Bettas to see the picture of how he looked when I first purchased him. He is the ultimate example of the marbling gene. Penny was imported from Thailand in April of 2024. I purchased her and another handsome fella as a breeding pair, but I chose Neptune as the father instead.
Origin
They were both fed live black worms and high quality frozen foods. They were introduced 3 days before releasing Penny. Penny is crazy with eggs. Like, insane.
Conditioning
There was more aggression than anticipated. Penny was not impressed with Neptune’s bubble-nest. It took a few attempts of him showing her the nest and her rejecting him. Eventually the nest was up to her standards. It was a long spawn, lasting around 10 hours. Neptune was a great first time father.
